Ryan W. Krull is a lecturer in the Department of Communication and Media in the College of Arts and Sciences at UMSL. He earned his BA in Communication (2010) and an MFA in Creative Writing (2014) from UMSL. He teaches both Introduction to News Writing as well as Feature Writing. He also serves as faculty advisor to UMSL’s independent student newspaper, The Current. He is the faculty coordinator for UMSL’s First Year Experience class and also teaches the innovative Reacting to the Pass, a class that tasks students to speak and debate from points of view other than their own.
Before going to grad school Ryan .worked as a freelance reporter and he currently writes both nonfiction and fiction. His writing has appeared in The Rumpus, Hobart, december magazine, The Millions, Third Coast magazine and elsewhere.Selected courses taught
